Jerusalem, a Palestinian Perspective: Arab Neighborhoods in West Jerusalem

Guided by the Center for Jerusalem Studies and former residents of confiscated Arab homes in West Jerusalem (Israeli controlled) we toured homes, neighborhoods and cemeteries to witness the effects of ethnic cleansing in 1948. Under the British Mandate, Mamilla (in Arabic, Ma’man Allah (Sanctuary of God), a 13th century Mamluk cemetery, became the center of the city outside the old city walls with shops, cafes, and government offices. The tour included Katamon, Talbiyeh, and Baqa’a where the most striking houses and properties were built and owned by Palestinians which have been confiscated by Israel since 1948.
