From Gaza to Israel: Sderot—Palestine & Israel

Photos by Skip Schiel & Teeksa Photography—teeksaphoto.org

A short 10 minute ride to the Israeli town of Sderot after passing thru Erez, the main crossing point into Israel. Easy, yet the social, political, and cultural distances seem vast. Unti recently militants fired homemade rockets from Gaza into the nearby civilian areas including Sderot. Some 8 killed in about 6 years, with about 30 injured—and the trauma continues. Despite the anger of most Israelis toward Gazans, a few in Sderot and elsewhere speak and organize for the rights—the basic humanity—of Palestinians.
