Settlement, east of Jerusalem

Settlements—sometimes called "facts on the ground" by the Israeli government and others—are thought by Palestinians and other observers to be deliberate prods for the eventual excision of Palestinian people from their homes.

As a photographer (assuming no significant digital manipulation), I am painfully limited to showing what sits before me at this exact moment—stone, brick, flesh, terrain, all reflecting and emitting light. Light is the ultimate story, what it reveals, what it conceals.
