Massachusetts Audubon Wildlife Sanctuaries-1: Habitat in Belmont
Summer light panegyric
Intense summer light
with heat—
or the cool blue sky that might bless us, offer relief.
Breathe again.
Hazy summer light,
sweaty and languorous—
or the dry air that might stir us
back to life.
Dimming summer light
at night fall—
we might kiss, under the
full moon hovering.
Vanished summer light
at summer’s end,
slowly, mournfully turning to autumn—
How short the summer,
how short my life.
