Shine a Hanukkah Light on the Deadly Exchange

Always about resistance and renewal, Hanukkah this year inspired Jewish Voice for Peace-Boston and allies to march thru downtown Boston in the evening to alert and motivate people about US law enforcement and Israeli police exchange trainings —the Deadly Exchange.

"Right now, as our Jewish communities around the globe kindle the lights of Hanukkah, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is bringing US police to train with Israeli military forces, creating the space for two oppressive regimes to swap tools of surveillance, racial profiling, and suppression of people’s movements. We call these police exchanges between the US & Israel the Deadly Exchange, and we commit to ending them—to choosing ... the path of solidarity, and leading our communities away from reliance on police, prisons or militarized nation-states for security. This year, Hanukkah gives us an opportunity to dig deep into our reservoirs of trust and choose safety through solidarity." (JVP)
