13-Fatima Nakhli (Um Yousef)

Born in 1932, she fled her original village of Beit Nabala near Lod (Lydda) when 16 and now lives in the Jalazonerrefugee camp. Married at the age of 14, she fled with her husband and child. For Fareed (colleage, translator, and fellow interviewer) Fatima sang or chanted a sorrowful song about her loss of home.

Most Palestinians living in the West Bank are never allowed to visit the Mediterranean Sea or the Sea of Galilee or the upper Jordan River (where a waterfall like this might be seen).
