Born in 1933 in the village of Al-Malha, west of Jerusalem, he lives now in Jerusalem. After 1967, Abu Maher visited Al-Malha for the first time and found it had not been destroyed. The houses were intact, and Jews from Iraq and Tunisia lived in them. The village mosque has been turned into a bar. Although Shaker Holds a Jerusalem ID card and lives in Jerusalem, he is not allowed to return to live in his hometown, simply because he is a Palestinian. (My gratitude again to Fareed Taamallah who helps me find and interview those expelled during the Nakba. He writes and publishes thru his FaceBook page.)
