Winter Light-Urban Landscapes :: February 7, 2009, Saturday, 12-3 PM

What is light? On Boston's Greenway and in the North End?

Nearly one week since I made these photos, a walk one balmy morning put me in the presence of birds —birds are singing once again. Can spring be long in coming? The night had been mild; moisture had condensed on the sidewalks and rds suggesting rain when none had fallen. The air is more odiferous than usual. The ground more fecund. The light is more radiant than usual. The sky more luminous. All is becoming ready to usher in the new harvest. And I am part of it.

Ever new, ever fresh, ever ready to abandon winter light for spring light, ever young, like renowned composer, Gunther Schuller, who is being honored locally at the age of 83. Should I have such stamina and longevity!
