Occupy Wall Street-1: October 22-24, 2011

The wondrous side of the city stems mainly from Occupied Wall Street (OWS). Hundreds of campers and other perhaps part time personnel fill up the private/public Zuccotti Park one block from the famed and now largely gated Wall Street, aka, New York Stock Exchange, and also headquarters of world banks. And very curiously, one block from Ground Zero, aka, World Trade Center, aka, 911 Memorial Park. Centrally located, near Wall Street, the site and movement draw many tourists who walk thru and around the encampment. They photograph, video, interview, gaze at, and might be puzzled by the throng assembled in the shadow of Wall Street. Main Street comes to Wall Street—with a vengeance.

"This is not a protest; This is AN AFFIRMATION, of the vitality and idealism erupting from underneath the present AMERICAN NIGHTMARE" (from a sign at Occupied Wall Street)
